Woolwich location proposed for Regional mass transit station Saturday, March 24, 2007
March 24, 2007

Region of Waterloo Rapid Transit Project Team,

This letter has also been copied to the Chair and
Council, Region of Waterloo, as well as other parties.

Re: Phase 2, Step 2 of the Region's Rapid Transit
Environmental Assessment the evaluation of potential
routes and station locations for Waterloo Region?s
proposed Rapid Transit System (RTS)

On behalf of congratulations on all of
the hard work that has been put into this project to
date. Our organization continues to support the
concept and viability of RTS servicing Waterloo
Region. Furthermore, we recognize the commitment of
all levels of Government in addressing our complex,
but not confusing, transportation challenges.

Although we continue to support this project we
continue to have some issues with the public policy
process, specifically the exclusion of a Woolwich
station, a vital rural/urban link, included in Phase 1
of the project. Please find attached a map outlining proposed site location for this
necessary station.

We would also like to alert the project team that
there is growing concern in the community that the
entire process has become too political. We would
appreciate an opportunity to discuss these concerns
with you at your convenience.

We respectfully request in writing a response to our
concerns of the continued exclusion of a Phase 1
Woolwich station and this site location.

Respectfully yours,

David Wellhauser Spokesperson

Doug McNally property excluded from ESL Tuesday, January 09, 2007
The late Doug McNally sold his lands for environmental stewardship and protection. The City of Waterloo staff are misinterpreting Doug's contract with the City and ignoring his wishes by not including his enitre lands in the Region's ESL.

The following photos document some of the 20 acres of his property that were excluded from the ESL and are currently threatened by urban development.

The beauty of the Waterloo Moraine Friday, December 22, 2006
These lands located east of the Wilmot Line on the Waterloo Moraine are slated for development as approved by City of Waterloo Report #DS-06-16 (Summer '06). DS-06-16 violates Regional and Provincial policy and demonstrates a political failure in the planning process in the City of Waterloo.

For more details on the problems with Ds-06-16 please review's community education flyer on the subject. Click on the "Groundwater alert educational flyer" link on our homepage.
